Taene
Taene…where shall I begin? Taene was my sister’s dog. She died all too soon a couple of years ago. Taene was one of the most soulful dogs I have ever had the honor of knowing and loving; such a gentle and kind dog. Can’t you see that old soul in her eyes?
My most cherished story about Taene concerns my mother. My mother died of breast cancer in 1996. Several months before mama died, but while she was well enough to care for herself, my sister sent Taene to stay with mama; to keep her company. Taene lived with mama for a few months, and they loved one another. Taene would sit in mama’s lap, leaning up against her chest, everyday. She would nap with mama as often as mama needed. She would excitedly watch squirrels out the window and request to go out just when mama really needed to move and be entertained. After mama got too sick to live alone, she and Taene moved in with my sister. Taene was right there with us when mama died. Taene gave me a great gift by loving my mama. She loved me, too, and that was the icing on the cake. Thank you, Taene! We miss you so…
