My name is Carla Royal, and I am the creator of Sacred Witness Blog.  Sacred is an anagram for scared, and that is where I came from—a scared and contracted human being because I felt different and ashamed.  The Witness is the seat of attention.  In learning to bring attention and intention to all–rather than drifting through life half awake–I have found much freedom and expansion.  Through the eyes of the Witness all becomes sacred, even this unconventional person named Carla.

Witnessing the world within and without brings me tremendous joy, and I love sharing that joy with others through photography, story and transformative coaching.  It is my hope that in sharing my photos, stories, tips and tricks, you will feel the invitation and inspiration to become a witness to life—moving from scared to sacred.

We live in tumultuous and exciting times.  By cultivating the practice of attention and intention, and opening to the creative surge of life, we can bring healing to ourselves, those around us, and to the world at large.

Increasingly, I learn to relax into the groundlessness of life.  Pema Chodron has called it Comfortable with Uncertainty.  My adventures are leading me to accept impermanence, embrace it, and thrive, even in the midst of troubled times.  Moreover, I am compelled by the great evolutionary impulse to expand in compassion, care, and consciousness as articulated by integral philosophers.  Exciting times, indeed!
