“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” Meister Eckhart
I have much to be thankful for. Today I am especially thankful for dear friends who are visiting from up north.
There are so many blessings in my life. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by them all. They are coming at me from everywhere…I can barely take it all in.
It’s important that I take the time to breathe in each blessing…breathing them to my very spirit. When I stop a moment and recognize each blessing, expressing gratitude for them, something shifts in me…Something heals in me. Gratitude can change our thinking and emotions faster than most anything else.
Gratitude can move mountains. I’ve seen this happen. I had a mountain of a relationship, a relationship I did not think I could deal with, but circumstances made it impossible to avoid. I looked for what I could appreciate in this person and then began extending gratitude. This simple formula has completely transformed the relationship, and it happened quickly…only a matter of weeks. I’m still astonished.
Today, I am thankful for my many friends and all the support they offer me. I am thankful for a new great nephew, and another great niece or nephew on the way. For another little life stirring in a dear friend. For sweet times with my ill father. For a moment of deep connection with my brother. For reconnection with a cousin. For new insights and movement. For the hot sun and cool lake. For the horses and critters that surround me. For a comfortable and beautiful place to live and a partner to share it with.
I take so much for granted. Gratitude is a practice that can remedy that and heal me in the process. And the amazing thing to me is that when I extend gratitude to another they are enlarged and so am I.
