Peace Begins with Me

create peace Peace Begins with Me

I was running errands the other day while fuming.  I was upset.  When someone pulled out in front of me, I cussed at him in my mind.  A moment later I got out of the car to pump gas and noticed the little sticker I have on my bumper:  Create Peace.  How can I create peace when I am not at peace?

I say repeatedly that I want peace in the world, but peace begins with me.

Peace begins with me.

I know how easy it is to put negative energy out to the world.  I know the intention it takes to put positive energy out to the world.  I find it interesting that the more I put out positive energy, the easier it becomes.  It seems to build upon itself, like a snowball tumbling down a hill.  All I have to do is form it and then give it a push.

I form peace and positive energy by morning practices of yoga and meditation.  I push peace and positive energy by becoming more conscious and intentional.

Peace begins with me.

Lily saw the picture of the peace frog and said, “Is that in Carla’s bed?”

Thank you for the reminder to intentionally create peace. So much can be profoundly changed with a shift in intention and mindfulness. I will be focusing on this today.

Dear Carla,

We both enjoyed this post. I feel the same way. Amit started laughing and he said “How can that frog be peaceful? He has no pants on.” Yes, that’s my husband. We love you both.

Good thoughts, good “lead-by-example advice,” Carla.

Love the frog! and the Picasso with the dove. Two of my favorite animals, no matter how represented! I often question my “peace making” intentions when I seem to be out of touch with that in the way I handle everyday aggravations. Today, I saw for myself just how it does get smoother and easier when I relax and bless each event, person, etc. I spoke my truth about what I saw happening today with having to purchase new tires from Walmart only six months after the last pair and questioned what their policies are that did not make sense to me…but managed to do it in a good tone of voice and not angrily. I was given a lot of discounts and many fees were waived. That went well! A little while earlier, other things were not working right on the car and a job I applied for gave me a rejection email (without ever having contacted me! again! fourth time!) and I was inclined to be really gloopy. I did better and it got better, right away. I still don’t have a job, but I have safe tires on the front of the car tonight and that’s an important step to getting out there tomorrow and getting the other items fixed…I can drive to the other mechanic’s shop safely! You are so right about how my attitude and intention toward what is happening can help out a tough situation – or make it just that much harder for everyone, including me!
