I was running errands the other day while fuming. I was upset. When someone pulled out in front of me, I cussed at him in my mind. A moment later I got out of the car to pump gas and noticed the little sticker I have on my bumper: Create Peace. How can I create peace when I am not at peace?
I say repeatedly that I want peace in the world, but peace begins with me.
Peace begins with me.
I know how easy it is to put negative energy out to the world. I know the intention it takes to put positive energy out to the world. I find it interesting that the more I put out positive energy, the easier it becomes. It seems to build upon itself, like a snowball tumbling down a hill. All I have to do is form it and then give it a push.
I form peace and positive energy by morning practices of yoga and meditation. I push peace and positive energy by becoming more conscious and intentional.
I still get road rage occasionally, and when I do, I immediately attempt to replace the negative energy with positive energy: an apology, a prayer, a blessing, etc. Sometimes I forget or simply want to hold onto my anger, but it’s a practice I will stick to because I know that peace begins with me.
Peace begins with me.
