I made a choice a few years back to begin to simplify my life. It’s why I chose to stop working a 9 to 5 job. It’s why I chose to become a caretaker. It’s why I choose to live in a small space. It’s why I choose not to have all the latest greatest gadgets.
I want to experience life.
Lately, I’ve realized that I am still pretty cluttered. I’m not cluttered with stuff or work; rather my mind and body are cluttered. My attention is everywhere! Facebook, Twitter, RSS feed, web surfing, emails, videos, etc. My food, sugar, and alcohol intake are excessive. I feel bloated in both mind and body.
When I am surfing the web or breezing through Facebook my attention is unfocused. I feel foggy instead of sharp and alert. Nothing gets my full attention and presence. When I am taking in so much food and drink, the flavors and experience all run together and bog me down; then I do not deeply appreciate any of it.
When I am taking in excessive amounts of information, entertainment, food, sugar, or anything for that matter, then I am not truly experiencing life. I can have everything and experience nothing. This seems to be a sign of the times in our wealthy, information rich culture.
I’m tired of this bloaty, foggy state I’ve been in since moving to Georgia. It’s time to take myself in hand.
I want to experience life.
This week, my partner and I begin a 90-day media fast to deal with our bloated minds. We also intend to address our bloated bodies. We are doing this to clear the grunge and open to life.
I am so much the richer when I let go of the excess.
Several folks are joining me for the 90-day challenge. If you are interested then click here to read all about it. I’d love to have you along for the journey!
