There are many bluebirds where we live. Seeing them reminds me of this fellow. I had the wonderful opportunity to connect with him up close for about a week. What a joy to see him everyday and have this kind of intimate encounter with him. I felt truly honored.
True connection is an honor and, dare I say, a responsibility. I believe that our world has run amuck largely due to our lack of connection with ourselves, each other, the world at large, and the Divine.
Violence, destruction, and unkindness are untenable when we are deeply connected.
We are one. We deny this truth at our great peril. Yes, there are differences, huge differences, but differences make for diversity, color, texture, and balance. Celebrating diversity, respecting all and finding a place of connection in our oneness, brings much healing to our world.
True connection takes hard and consistent work. It requires that I am present, aware of my own projections and assumptions, and that I am challenging myself to see beyond ego. I must push past my fear of that which is unfamiliar and different from me. I must push past my selfishness and smallness.
It is worth it. It is worth it. It is worth pushing past my discomfort, beliefs, assumptions, projections and ego to connect with you, the bluebird, the cherry tree, the manure I muck several times a day, those I do not like, those I do not understand, etc.
It is worth pushing myself to expand…it is my responsibility. It is your responsibility. It is our responsibility to find ways to connect with ourselves and those around us.
It is our responsibility to bring healing to our world.
I’d love to hear from you. Tell my readers and me how it is for you. How are you pushing past your resistance to connection? What are you experiencing as you do so? What keeps you from connecting?
