Rainy Day Treasures

I love wandering in the woods.  I feel like I’m on a treasure hunt.  Wet days like these often hold wonderful gifts–if I’m willing to notice.  I’m pretty sure that these are raccoon tracks.  Aren’t the toes fascinating?IMG 0451 200x300 Rainy Day Treasures

I can’t tell you how often I forget that rainy days can offer the best photo ops.  This photo was taken on the Appalachian Trail in VA.  I had gone to the trail in hopes of getting some great photos but when I arrived it was rainy and foggy.  I remember feeling so disappointed.  Despite the rain, I decided to walk.  I took photos not expecting any to come out well.  To my delight, I captured some pleasing images.

I experience this in my life repeatedly—worrying about something that turns out just fine.  Sometimes I even make up things to worry about!  Just this morning I went to the barn to feed the animals and the horses were not waiting for me as they always are.screen saver 15 300x225 Rainy Day Treasures I immediately spun a story line that one of them must be hurt.  But when I investigated more closely, I saw that they were simply way out in the pasture that had finally been cleared by the rain of all the snow.  They had been nibbling on little green shoots!  All was well after all.  A fine reminder for me.

Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but doesn’t get you anywhere. ~ anonymous
