This is my friend, SunBear. He lived in the cottage in front of me when I lived in Virginia. His mom often had to leave home for long hours, and he would come visit with me throughout the day. He loved to sit in my lap when I was at my computer or on the front porch. He would often go on walks with me, even across the stream.
I met SunBear when he first came to live with my neighbor; he was just a kitten. He and his sister were quite shy and were definitely afraid of Buttercup. It took them many months before they would dare wander over to my house. It took them even longer to trust Buttercup; but they did eventually. SunBear would even lie down with Buttercup on the purple chaise lounge occasionally. Such a brave kitty!
I watch my animal friends and learn much from them. In many ways, they are my guides. They teach me about love, courage, boundaries, gentleness, and much more. SunBear reminds me to test the waters with curiosity. He shows me the wisdom in taking all the time I need in getting to know situations, opportunities, people, and myself. And then there comes a point when I must cross that stream into true action. That’s what I’m doing with this photoblog. I’m testing the waters of my creativity. I’m stepping into the stream of action. I’m grateful to SunBear for his example of courage and trust.
